Since 2003 I have worked to refine my skills within the tradition of piano tuning and technology. Guided by skilled mentors, I have worked to bridge the language gap between pianist and piano technician. I love working together with the pianist to arrive at the “yes!” moment of loving their instrument.

After completing my BA in music (piano) at the University of Northern Iowa, I graduated with a Certificate in Piano Technology with Distinction from Western University in London, Ontario in 2003. I then began work as the full-time Piano Technician for the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, MI. I transitioned to the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance in Ann Arbor, MI in 2005 as the Assistant Piano Technician under Bob Grijalva. In 2007 I moved to Tucson, AZ to become the head Piano Technician at the University of Arizona’s Fred Fox School of Music, and held that position for 14 years.

I have attended five week-long training sessions at the Steinway factory in Long Island, NY, as well as a week-long Steinway training session at the Oberlin Conservatory. I have also participated in one-on-one Yamaha training in Long Beach, CA. In 2019 I began working at the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson, WY and you can find me there each summer!

It just needs a tuning…
